Incandescence

Your kiss leaves my lips red,
A fiery tingle that spreads,
Engulfing me in scarlet.
I burn steadfast at your altar,
Pinned beneath your gaze.
Fire coils in my belly,
Liquid heat in my veins;
My heart thunders to cool the fever.
I wonder at this searing…
It should scorch me,
Should leave me a pile of ash.
Instead, I hover in the inferno,
Eyes shut tight,
Waiting for more.
